If after reading the background information in the previous post, you have become interested in trying out this detoxification method, then read on, you're in for a real treat!
Before I list the exact instructions, there are some general considerations that one should keep in mind:
- coffee enemas, as explained previously, are a potent tool to activate the body's detoxification process and start the process of healing on many levels, so the most important thing about it is that it will not work well on its own. One will need to address nutrition, lifestyle and supplementation in combination with this procedure - only then will it prove to be efficient and safe.
- any detox method including enemas will initially cause a 'dump' of the accumulated toxin buildup leading to discomforts and the body might go through a rough period before the healing begins
- many symptoms that occur due to a coffee enema, especially in the beginning, such a fatigue, headache, stomach ache or others are due to the release of toxins that the body starts releasing from the liver and gallbladder as well as the colon, so the more intoxicated you are - the more detox effects you will experience in the first sessions. Again, to minimise this there needs to be a complete healing approach implemented along with coffee enemas. Also, doing a second coffee enema immediately after finishing the first may cause the symptoms to go away, as it will help 'mop up' the released toxins faster, minimising reabsorption.
HOW OFTEN AND FOR HOW LONG?
If you are struggling with a disease and require a more intensive program for detox - up to 4 enemas per day (2 consecutive in the morning + 2 consecutive before bed) are recommended, and this would be for at least a year.
If you wish to incorporate this method into your normal routine as profilaxis - 1 enema per day either every day or 3-4 times a week indefinitely works great.
It is best to do the enema either in the morning or throughout the day, as too close to bedtime may result in poorer ability to sleep. However, for people with pains, headaches and general discomforts at nighttime - doing an enema then will result in better sleep.
SAFETY AND BEST PRACTICE
- Follow the guidelines on choosing the right coffee explained in the previous post - organic, dark-roast, non-oily, without mold, preferably South American. Look into the Bulletproof brand, as a good example.
- Start with only half a teaspoon of coffee per enema, just in case you are sensitive to it
- Hygiene is very important when doing any procedure involving the lower body - wash everything carefully with soap and water after use and dry it thoroughly
- Never force the enema tip into the rectum. Lubricate it well and move it slowly and gently, aiming it directly upward from the legs to the body. Be sure it goes all the way inside until it cannot go further.
- Never retain the enema if the pressure to release it is too high.
- Never force anythi
- Be sure the temperature of the coffee liquid is comfortable to the touch, it should not be hot nor cold!
- Do not use more than about 2 cups of water in the enema (400-500 ml). If you cannot retain the enema well, start by using about 1 cup of water (300 ml).
- Distilled water is best for coffee enemas or any bottled high-quality water with as minimal residue as possible, also carbon-filtered.
- Doing two coffee enemas, back to back, is extremely powerful. Make enough coffee for two enemas and do one, expel it after 15-30 minutes, and do another one right afterwards.
- If at all possible, boil the coffee in a pan (no aluminium, no teflon, no non-stick - ceramic enamel is best) for 12-13 minutes EXACTLY to prepare the enema. No coffee machines.
PREPARING THE COFFEE SOLUTION AND TOOLS
- Buy an enema bag or an enema bucket - glass is not desirable as it will break, and for bags make sure to get with open tops so it is easier to clean. No metal! Coffee reacts to metal chemically. Either will come with a hose, an enema tip and a clamp.
- Buy coffee - as described in the previous post (organic dark roast non-oily preferably from South America)
- You can buy whole beans and grind it yourself, or ground, for best freshness store the coffee in the freezer
- Place 400-500 ml of your preferred water in a pan (non-metal, ceramic pans work best, and distilled water is the best option or bottled water carbon-filtered)
- Add 1/2 to 2 tablespoons of coffee to the pan and bring it to boil (when starting - use the minimal amount, for example 1/2 of a teaspoon and as you get used to the procedure - increase the amount per enema). If you feel jittery after an enema - you have used too much coffee.
- After it starts boiling, bring down the heat and simmer for exactly 12 minutes, then take it off the stove.
- Wait until the solution is cooled to body temperature or slightly lower
- Take the grounds out of the liquid as you should not use them in your enema (filter through coffee paper or fine strainer)
- You can make extra coffee for more than a day, and store it in the fridge, although fresh is obviously a lot better.
POSITION AND LOCATION
The best way to take an enema in is lying on your back with your pelvis raised on top of a strong pillow - it is easier for the solution to flow in and the intestinal gas will be able to bubble up freely so there will not be any sensation of internal pressure. Some prefer to do it on the bed placing a pair of towels underneath, others - on the bathroom floor, or even in the tub. Some choose to be lying on their right side, whichever works best for you is ok.
ADMINISTRATION
- It is best to do enemas on an emptied bowel
- Assemble the hose, clamp and tip with the enema bag/bucket (make sure everything is clean and dry prior to that)
- Pour in the solution and in case of the enema bag - let out the excess air from the hose by allowing the coffee liquid to flow until it starts coming out of the tip - that's when you close the clamp.
- Lubricate the tip with coconut oil
- With the clamp closed hang the bag/bucket 1-3 feet above your abdomen in lying down position. If you can't hang it - place it on the floor next to you and when you are positioned raise it up with your hand
- Lubricate the anal opening with coconut oil and introduce the tip into your rectum - straight in without any angles following the line of your legs, slowly (!) and make sure the whole tip is inside, otherwise it will not work.
- Open the clamp and let the liquid pour in. Once it is in - close the clamp and either remove the tip or leave it inside so that it helps with letting out extra gas.
- If you feel a cramp when letting the liquid in - close the clamp for a bit, turn side to side and take several deep breaths
- After the first 2-3 minutes turn to your right side for another 2-3 minutes and then back to lying on your back
- Hold the enema inside for at least 20 minutes.
As the body will start dumping toxins you might have times when you will not be able to hold it or will have an urge to urinate - if this happens and the enema comes out, you can do another one straight after.
After you are finished - sit on the toilet or bidet and let the solution out. If some of the water remains retained it means you are dehydrated and need to drink more water along the day. If nothing comes out at all - try rubbing the abdomen in clock-wise motion and stroking your right calf, as well as twisting your little toe on your right foot.
- Coffee enemas lower blood sugar slightly so you will probably be hungry right after it - it is ok to have a meal after the enema
- the only definite contraindication for a coffee enema is appendicitis so if there is any pain in the lower right quadrant of your abdomen - do not do it
- IBS, ulcerative colitis, diverticulitis, hemmoroids (unless they are severe and bleeding!), dysbiosis, chron's disease, colon cancer and all other types of cancer - are benefitted greatly by regular coffee enemas
- breastfeeding is not a direct contraindication but if you are severely toxic and you start dumping a lot of toxins some may cross into the milk from your blood
- coffee enemas are safe for children starting from the age of 3, the amount for a child should be half of the coffee and half of the water used, usually for kids it's best to lie on their belly.
- if you feel discomfort or cramping that won't go away with turning and breathing - do the entire enema lying on your right side, cuddled up. If the cramping is still there after the enema - rub the sole of your left foot close to the base of your toes.
